Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a complete medical system, which is used to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, prevent and improve well-being.
Acupuncture originated between 3000 to 5000 years ago in China and has been widely used continuously since, worldwide. In fact, it is the most used medical system in the world.
The World Health Organization recognizes Acupuncture as being an effective treatment for over 40 conditions. New studies are being released every month in professional medical journals from the United States and around the world describing new uses.
The National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland has reviewed data from studies, taken testimony from healthcare providers and now recognizes Acupuncture as being effective for a variety of health conditions, with Pain Management one of the first. NIH also noted that Acupuncture is probably effective for many more conditions that they have not yet had time to review the datum.
How Acupuncture Works
Chinese Medicine sees the body as a complete complex energy system and when this system is in balance and flowing smoothly, there are no illnesses and/or pain. If this system doesn't work correctly due to injury, stress, diet, or pathogens there is pain and/or illness. By stimulating specific Acupuncture Points throughout this energy system it is possible to balance the circulation of energy, which influences the health of the entire being.
Due to this unique way of seeing the body and diagnosing illness, Acupuncture often works when all other types of treatment have failed.
What is an Acupuncture Treatment?
Treatments can be done both with and without needles.
Yes, Acupuncture may be done without those hair fine needles. Prior to their first treatment many patients just cannot believe that the needles can be painless. They are pleasantly surprised often finding the treatments very relaxing.
Pain patients' remark, even after their first treatment, they notice lessening of their pain.
Different pain issues respond differently, as do individuals. Your Acupuncture Physician will discuss your condition with you and provide guidelines on what you can expect from treatment.
The use of cupping, cold lasers, heat therapy, electrical stimulation, and manual manipulation are very effective non-needle treatments.
Qualified practitioners may also recommend herbal prescriptions, supplements, dietary changes, and therapeutic exercises.
